Just because you are on a fat loss diet that doesn’t mean you have to cut out the fat altogether. On the contrary, it is infact a good idea to continue eating some fat as long as it is the right fat. Fat loss diet foods are not only those that contain minimal calories. Our body needs certain fats to stay healthy and so here is a short list of healthy fats you can incorporate into your weight loss diets.
Coconut Fat: Believe it or not but coconut fat is around 92% saturated fat, yet it is considered a very healthy natural fat. It has certain nutritional properties that enhance the immune system and also utilizes natural energy immediately instead of storing it as fat. Great to be used as a cooking oil for stir-frying and baking. The best sources of healthy coconut fat are organic coconut milk, virgin coconut oil or fresh coconut.
Extra Virgin Olive Oil: This is approximately 71% monounsaturated, 16% saturated and 13% polyunsaturated. Unlike many other oils Extra Virgin Olive Oil is not extracted with the use of harmful manmade chemicals and is one of the healthiest choices for liquid oils.
Dark Chocolate: This is one of the fat loss diet foods that help with those of you with a sweet tooth. Great for replacing those fatty cakes and sweets and all is needed is a square of dark chocolate. If you want the best kind then make sure it has a cocoa content of a least 70% – 85%. The cocoa bean is a concentrated source of antioxidants and the fat portion of the bean is a healthy natural fat. Cocoa Butter fits into this category. Just remember that although this is a healthy treat it is still packed with calories so limit you to one or two squares a day.
Avocados: There is approximately 60% monounsaturated, 25% saturated and 15% polyunsaturated fats. Avocados are a very healthy natural food that provide many nutrients, fibre and healthy fats. Try not to eat too much though as these are calorie dense. Slice them into salads, sandwiches or make natural guacamole dip.
Fish: Most fish or seafood are a good source of natural Omega-3 oils. Fish high in fat such as sardines, trout, salmon, mackerel and herring are the best. Omega-3 is a good fat and should be consumed regularly through fish, walnuts, flax seeds, etc.
Nuts: Nuts are a great source of healthy natural fats as well as minerals and other nutrients. Go for the raw nuts rather than nuts cooked in oil. The healthiest are Walnuts, Macadamias, Almonds, Cashews and Peanuts.
Seeds: There are many varieties such as sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, sesames seeds and flax seeds. They are all great sources of healthy natural fats. Try buying wholes seeds and grind them in a coffee grinder until you have seed powder. Now just sprinkle some over your salads or cereal for a daily intake of natural oils.
Animal Fats: There is no doubt that the best kind of animal fat is free-range. Always try to buy your meats, eggs and other dairy products in free-range form. Any other way means you are buying products that are from animals that have been given loads of antibiotics and fattened up with hormones. So there is the list.
