With so much information floating around about dieting and losing weight, it can be tough to figure out which methods work best. Well, one of the first questions to ask yourself when choosing fat loss diets is. Is it safe? It’s best to do a little research to make sure the diet will not deprive you of your body’s necessary nutrients.
So what do our bodies need to function while losing weight?
Our bodies need the right mix of protein, carbohydrates, and fat to function properly. That’s right even fat. In regards to fats and carbohydrates the key is providing the body with the right amount and choosing the proper sources.
So what is good fat and what is bad fat?
We need a small amount of fat in our diet, so that the body can absorb the fat soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K.
Fat to stay away from when wanting to lose weight, is saturated fat. Saturated fat is associated with increasing the chances of heart disease. Some sources of good fats are olive oil, avocados, and nuts. But it’s important to be sure your taking in the right amounts, you don’t want to over do it with these either.
So what about carbs?
Our bodies use carbs to produce energy, so eliminating them all together could be a big mistake. It’s about taking in the right amount and getting them from the right sources. Bad carbs are ‘refined carbs’ which are highly processed. Good carbs are usually high in fiber and helps you stay full for a longer period of time. Some sources of good carbs are whole grains, fruits and vegetables.
So when choosing a healthy fat loss diet, make sure it’s safe and that it doesn’t deprive you of the nutrients that our bodies need.
